THE

MUSEUM

Mission

The Future Museum is a new cultural institution focused on childhood learning and play based in New Haven, Connecticut. This project, currently under development, aims to create a large scale indoor facility that offers active and inspiring adventures for children ages 4 and up. This project, a registered 501(c)3, emerged out of the grassroots efforts of local parents and educators and is now focused on fundraising, site selection, and project development.

Play

At the heart of the Future Museum is a large scale climber designed by the ground-breaking visionaries at Luckey Climbers. This multi-story active play structure offers adventures to kids of all ages while challenging them to problem-solve, think spatially, and most of all, be kids with other kids.

Make

Working with New Haven-based makers and STEAM educators, we are developing creative, joyful, and educational interactive exhibits throughout the Future Museum. High-touch exhibits include open-ended , loose parts , and collaborative activities for individual and social experiences.

Learn

Grounded in a framework of social and emotional learning, the Future Museum encourages the development of key SEL skills, including self-awareness, social awareness, relationship skills, and decision-making through reflection, communication, teamwork, and experimentation.

Who

The Future Museum is a project by a group of New Haven parents who have decades of experiences in non-profit management, social activism, design, and fundraising. Over the past two years, we’ve been meeting with other parents, teachers, makers, artists, and educators to dream up the potential for this new institution, and we welcome you to join us.
